Message from the president
Dear WTC Delaware Members, Partners, and Friends,
It is a privilege to serve as President of World Trade Center Delaware at a pivotal moment for global commerce, and I am committed to delivering a focused strategy that strengthens member value and expands Delaware’s global reach.
To Delaware’s business leaders, entrepreneurs, legislators, investors, and global partners, thank you for all you do to drive innovation, jobs, and opportunity in the First State.
In today’s fast-changing world, global commerce requires more than connections; it demands strategic focus, strong execution, and the right capital and partnerships to scale. Working in close alignment with the WTC Delaware Board of Directors and our governance framework, I will lead with executive-level strategy and disciplined follow-through strengthening the value we deliver to members and expanding Delaware’s presence in international markets.
We will sharpen our programming and services to help Delaware companies grow, finance, and scale deepening engagement with strategic investors and entrepreneurial funders while elevating trade education, market intelligence, and relationship-driven business development.
This next chapter will be defined by ambition, innovation, and execution. We intend to be on the cutting edge of how trade organizations support companies in real time: connecting the right people, capital, and opportunities, while delivering practical tools that help businesses navigate risk, seize growth, and build durable international relationships.
A core pillar of this work is relationship-building, deepening trust with our members, strengthening public-private collaboration, and expanding strategic partnerships that open doors abroad.
Just as importantly, we will actively leverage the World Trade Centers Association network by strengthening relationships with high-performing centers in priority global markets and translating those connections into practical advantages for Delaware companies.
This includes establishing direct points of contact with peer WTC leaders to facilitate warm introductions to vetted buyers, distributors, and strategic partners; coordinating soft-landing support and market-entry guidance; and sharing timely intelligence on regulatory shifts and emerging opportunities.
We will also participate in WTCA collaboration forums and working groups to bring proven growth playbooks back to Delaware such as export-readiness accelerators, investment and partnership pipelines, and real-time trade tools and tailor them to the needs of our members so Delaware businesses can expand, compete, and scale globally with greater clarity and risk-awareness.
I want to hear from you. In the months ahead, we will launch monthly business roundtable discussions, open to all, designed to surface priorities, share actionable insights, and build momentum together across sectors.
Thank you for your partnership and your belief in what Delaware can continue to achieve on the global stage. I look forward to working alongside you!
Warmly,
Mary S Swenson, PhD
