WTC Bengaluru, Chennai & Kochi organized the second episode of their ''Expert Talk Series for Finance Professionals'' in association with Institute of Management Accountants and WTC Delaware. Mr. Russ Porter, CFO and SVP, Strategy, Technology and Analytics, IMA spoke on “Future of Finance - New Age Technology or New Skills”.
Mr. Porter observed that technologies like RPA, Blockchain, Quantum Computing and AI are fast evolving while finance competencies like Data Science and Strategy Management are not keeping up with that pace. The environment we are working in is volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous. He pointed out six mega trends in finance profession - Remote work to be the new norm; Environmental, social and governance support decision will become important; Accountability for enterprise risk management; Diversity, equity & inclusion will be a competitive differentiator; Automation will accelerate; Greater demand for upskilling and higher education. He opined that finance function should bring in a new set of collaborators like data scientists, statisticians, data security, IT delivery, roboticists etc. to work cross functionally. He said that for finance professionals to win the race for relevance, they should adopt and adapt to new skills, align themselves to actual functions, adopt data analytics to stay competitive and regularly upskill themselves.

Visit of Consul General of the Republic of Indonesia in New York to WTC Delaware - February 22, 2022
Following up on our last meeting last year, the Indonesian Consulate General led by Consul General Dr. Arifi Saiman asked the WTC Delaware to host a small delegation from the Consulate General in New York on Tuesday, February 22.
The Consul General, Dr. Arifi Saiman, requested this meeting with our Board of Directors in anticipation of a larger visit in the future. The purpose of the meeting was to build ties with WTC Delaware and to discuss the initiative to bring WTC Delaware with the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce together, with the aim to boost trade and business between the region.
Following up on our last meeting last year, the Indonesian Consulate General led by Consul General Dr. Arifi Saiman asked the WTC Delaware to host a small delegation from the Consulate General in New York on Tuesday, February 22.
The Consul General, Dr. Arifi Saiman, requested this meeting with our Board of Directors in anticipation of a larger visit in the future. Inaugurating Trade, Collaboration & Friendship between Delaware & Kogi State, Nigeria - November 16, 2021
Thank you to all who supported and attended the WTC Delaware's inauguration breakfast between Kogi State, Nigeria & State of Delaware. Attendees met with the Nigerian diplomats, our Delaware Lt. Governor and General Assembly members, the team from the Delaware Africa Caribbean Coalition, and many business and academic colleagues.
The Government of Nigeria and Kogi State were represented by Ambassador Nicholas Ella and Hon. Anthony Alonwu, Minister of Trade, Investment & Multilateral. Delaware General Assembly members presented a tribute to the Government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and Kogi State, Nigeria on the occasion of the Mission Inaugurating Trade, Collaboration & Friendship Between Kogi State, Nigeria & State of Delaware. Mid-Atlantic Summit Featuring President Biden – November 15, 2021
WTC Delaware partnered with the US Global Leadership Coalition and several other international groups for the fifth consecutive year to offer the 2021 Virtual Mid-Atlantic Regional Summit. This dynamic discussion featuring America’s leaders highlighted the positive impact of global affairs programs in the Mid-Atlantic region. President Biden was the keynote speaker. Senator Chris Coons (D-DE) and Senator Dan Sullivan (R-AK) were among several other notable presenters. At the suggestion of WTC Delaware, Neeraj Batta, SVP of WTC Delaware member BATTA Environmental Associates, was selected to make a presentation on the importance of international trade on his company.
European Union Ambassadors Visit, Port of Wilmington- October 18, 2021
WTC Delaware served on the planning committee and made a live, in-person presentation to delegation of Ambassadors from EU countries, and members of the Delaware international business and Port community. The guests received a tour of the Port followed by presentations from Joe Cruise, CEO, GT USA Wilmington; Beth Pomper, State of Delaware; Michael Quaranta, President, Delaware State Chamber of Commerce; and Carla Stone, President, WTC Delaware.

BIRD Foundation Virtual Lunch & Learn on U.S.- Israel Joint Project Funding Opportunities a Big Succes
New Castle, DE, July 1, 2021—The BIRD Foundation virtual Lunch & Learn event on July 1 attracted dozens of business owners who were afforded the opportunity to learn about funding for joint projects between U.S. and Israeli businesses and hear from leaders of a successful funding recipient from Delaware.
A Delaware based BIRD project case study will also be presented by Eric B. Kmiec, Ph.D., Director, Gene Editing Institute of Christiana Care’s Helen F. Graham Cancer Center & Research Institute. The Institute was awarded a $900,000 BIRD grant with Israeli biotechnology company Fore Biotherapeutics, formally known as NovellusDx; the companies co-developed new gene editing technologies that help identify the genetic mechanism responsible for both the onset and progression of many types of cancer. We are happy to announce that we are co-sponsoring the U.S. Commercial Service Trade Mission to the Caribbean Region. Last Friday, June 26, we hosted a webinar about the Caribbean Region with the US Commercial Service, Port to Port International, and the GT USA Wilmington/ Port of Wilmington. The Caribbean region is the third largest market for US goods and services in Latin America. It imported over $21 billion of U.S. goods in 2018. The Caribbean region is a natural commercial partner of the United States, and especially Delaware, as we are tied closely together by geography, history, and culture and trade. There is a huge demand for U.S.-made products and services in the region. The Trade Mission and Conference will be November 15-20 to the countries of Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean, the Dominican Republic, Haiti, Jamaica, Guyana, Suriname, The Bahamas, Trinidad and Tobago. June 17, 2020 - Preparing to Import and Export under the USMCA: Strategies for Using the New USMCA to Gain a Competitive Edge
On June 17th, World Trade Center Delaware presented a webinar on the new US- Mexico- Canada trade agreement which goes into effect on July 1st. Peggy Chaplin Louie, Esq. of Miller Proctor Law PLLC and Nasim Sadr-Fala, International Trade Specialist with the US Commercial Service in Philadelphia presented an in-depth overview of the USMCA, a firm understanding of the relevant rules and requirements, effective strategies for taking full advantage of this free trade agreement, and the marketing opportunities this new trade agreement brings to US exporters. The USMCA replaces and updates the decades old North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA). Some of the key improvements in the USMCA over NAFTA is it inclusion of provisions about intellectual property related to the internet. E-Commerce as we know it today had not been invented yet. Peggy Chaplin Louie gave an overview of the nuts and bolts of compliance, determining product eligibility and making claims under the USMCA, penalties for non-compliance, and outlined best practices for successful utilization of the USMCA.
